Coat of Arms

The Coat of Arms of the Diocese of Spokane

Argent, a cross throughout Gules, charged at the center by a lily of the first; to chief dexter a sunburst of the last.

Lily - The lily represents Our Lady of Lourdes, which is the namesake of the Cathedral and patron of the diocese.

Sunburst - The city of Spokane is named after the Spokane Tribe. In the Salish language, “Spokane” or SNXʷMENEʔ means “Children of the Sun.”
